Hunt Forest Buffalo in:  Cameroon(Dwarf) Congo

The African Elephant is the largest land mammal on Earth, weighing in at up to fourteen thousand pounds.  Both the males and females have tusks, which due to the popularity of ivory almost rendered this species extinct.  Hunting for African Elephants generally involves walking for miles tracking a bull, then sizing it up to determine if the tusks are large enough to consider it a trophy animal.  This animal can be extremely dangerous and hunters should utilize a firearm with massive knockdown power, such as a .375 Magnum, .416s, or .458s.  A well placed heart shot is your best bet, however if the animal is head on or charging a brain shot should be used.
The African or Cape Buffalo is a herd animal that is native to the open plains of Africa, typically staying near water sources.  Although this is a very large animal it can be very stealthy and is capable of easily blending into its terrain.  This animal can be extremely dangerous and hunters should utilize a firearm with massive knockdown power, such as a .375 Magnum, .416s, or .458s.  Due to its very thick skin, even a well-placed shot can result in a wounded animal.  The African Buffalo is uniquely notorious for actually doubling back on its blood trail and attacking threats.

The Hippopotamus or Hippo is one of Africa’s largest and most dangerous mammals.  Its massive body can be up to fourteen feet long and weigh up to eight thousand pounds.  Hippos generally spend up to sixteen hours per day submerged in water, so locating groups of Hippos is normally not overly challenging as they are very territorial and tend to congregate in the same pools of water.  We recommend using a minimum of a .375 magnum.

The Rhinoceros or Rhino is another of Africa’s very large game animals, weighing in at up to eight thousand pounds and reaching almost fourteen feet in length. This species is a true success story as it was hunted almost to the point of extinction; however through aggressive ranch and wildlife management practices these animals can again be hunted.  This can prove to be a challenging hunt as a Rhino has exceptional hearing and smell.  We recommend using a minimum of a .375 magnum.

The African Forest Buffalo is actually the smallest species of buffalo within Africa. Weighing roughly half as much as their larger Cape and savanna buffalo relatives, this species of buffalo is unique in that it is found in rainforest regions.  Forest buffalo are generally found in small herds, which is generally smaller than thirty animals in size and has only one or maybe two bulls.

The Giraffe is generally considered by most to be a plains game animal, however due to it being the world’s tallest mammal we honor it as a big game animal.  The Giraffe can grow up to nineteen feet tall and weigh nearly twenty-eight hundred pounds.  Giraffes are normally found in small groups of a half dozen animals, or less, that graze on the leaves and buds in treetops.  Giraffes only need to drink every couple of days and when necessary can run at a fast thirty-five miles per hour.
