Hunt Alligator in:  FloridaGeorgia |Louisiana |

South Carolina

By far the oldest hunting species of game in the United States, the Alligator dates back over thirty-seven million years.  Adult males can be massive measuring in at up to thirteen feet long and weighing over nine hundred pounds.  Alligators can be found and hunted in the swamp lands of the Southeast United States.

In the early 1900's the American Alligator almost went extinct, due to over hunting and loss of natural habitat.  However, with over a century of multiple state aggressively monitoring and regulating alligator hunting, the American Alligator can now be found in abundance throughout the Southeast United States.

Hunting techniques for alligators very depending upon the hunter, however often include baiting with the use of rancid meat (generally chicken).  The bait is connected to a large hook and line, which is secured to a fixed object.  Harvesting the animal will typically be done using a boom stick loaded with a shotgun slug, .357 magnum, or .44 magnum.  For a greater challenge hunters will hunt using a bow and arrow or harpoon.  It is important that you check state specific hunting regulations to ensure that you are hunting with techniques and equipment that is permitted.
